Hereās what weāre talking about this monthā¦
AI-Generated Titles, View Join Suggestions, and a new Style Sidebar in the Data View Editor!
AI-Generated Titles
Automatically Generated Titles for Chart and Graphs
The new AI-Generated Titles feature uses an integration with OpenAIās GPT-3.5, which powers ChatGPT, to produce automated titles quickly and easily. This adds value in the form of time efficiency and more accurate, consistent titles for charts and graphs.Ā
The title is one of the most important parts of a visualization. As the first piece of text the viewer reads, it provides invaluable guidance and context. Despite this, itās an often overlooked aspect of data visualization design.Ā

Data View Editor: Control when to View Join Suggestions
Click View Join Suggestions to see Suggestions from the Astrato Data EngineĀ
Astrato users can now use the View Join Suggestions button to view the Astrato Data Engineās suggested joins. The View Join Suggestions button is located in the top right of the interface and is always visible, allowing users to run a request at any time.
All join suggestions are available to view, which can be done simultaneously or by reviewing each one individually. Being able to view alternative joins is valuable for data exploration in that it presents new ways of exploring the relationship between tables.
By joining relevant tables, users can create a unified view of the data, which facilitates more comprehensive and meaningful analyses.

Support for “OR” in Measures Filters
Use āANDā or āORā as the Operator Between Any Two Filters
The addition of āORā as an operator in the Measures filters allows the user to answer a wider range of business questions by using more complex filtering expressions. Combining āANDā andĀ āORā allows the user to select the right combination of filters to interrogate the data with more precision.
‘AND’ allows you to require multiple conditions to be met simultaneously, narrowing down the data to a subset that meets all specified criteria. ‘OR,’ on the other hand, broadens the selection, including data that meets any of the given conditions.

New Style Sidebar in the Data View Editor
Navigate Items Quickly and Easily with the New Style Sidebar
The Data View Editor allows users to create, modify, and manage data views. A data view is a customized representation of data from one or more data sources that are tailored to meet specific reporting or analysis requirements.Ā
It provides a way to organize, filter, and present data in a manner that makes it easier for business users to interpret and work with the information. The new Style Sidebar allows users to access all items they have created quickly and easily. The content of the data remains visible whilst users create new items and make adjustments to existing ones.
This makes building the data layer easier and quicker.

Lobby: View your Workbooks as a List or as Tiles
A New Option for Browsing Workbooks
Workbooks can now either be browsed in the default tile format (a thumbnail of the workbook with the title) or in a list view. Users can select their preferred view by selecting the corresponding option underneath the āNew Workbookā button in the top right of the interface. A list view allows users to browse workbooks more quickly and efficiently.

Workbook Editor: Controls – Text Area element
Add Comments, Context, and Procedural Steps to the WorkbookĀ Ā
Text Area control allows the user to add comments, context, and procedural steps theyāve created as string Variables in the workbook. The user can enter plain text or a SQL query and combine the Text area element with Actions to create interactive dashboards and data apps. This is valuable in facilitating clarity and collaboration on a dashboard project.Ā

Workbook: Duplicating measures
Duplicate Measures to Apply Different Filters to EachĀ
Users can now effortlessly replicate and modify measures, allowing for more intricate analysis. You can have identical measures and apply distinct filters to each of them, allowing users to generate more precise insights depending on their interests.
The images below illustrate a comparison between the average horsepower of Porsche and the average horsepower of all cars in our records. This comparison is also depicted in the SQL query.
Select the ‘Duplicate’ option to create a copy of the data you want to apply different filters too.
The output is visualized in a horizontal bar chart above. The corresponding SQL query is pictured below.

Workbook: Result Filters
Automatically Filter Results Following a CalculationĀ
The results of a calculation are filtered using the āHAVINGā clause in SQL. By applying filters, analysts can tailor their analysis to specific dimensions, time frames, or other criteria, reducing noise and enhancing data clarity. Automating this process is valuable in reducing manual data analysis and ensuring all members of a team are viewing the same metrics.
