In this article we’ll be exploring some of the advanced features of the Astrato platform, and seeing how these solutions can help to enrich your data analytics. Here’s your essential guide on the Astrato Toolbar: Advanced tools for data analytics.

The advanced functionalities of Astrato

Astrato has many different features and functionalities that you can use to further the impact of your data analysis and boost interaction. Below we have compiled four of our favorite features to help you get started.

The Astrato Image Gallery is a new section on the Astrato toolbar that lets you easily and quickly upload media for use in your workbook. Within the gallery, users are able to edit and manage content across their various workbooks and create eye-catching workbooks with unique artwork and design elements to help them get their analysis and information across to their intended audience.

Shapes & Layers

If you’ve ever spent any time with photo-editing or document design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Canva, the chances are you’re already familiar with the concept of “layers”. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term (or need a reminder!), layering refers to the addition of different design elements on top of your workbook. On our platform we refer to layers as Shapes and Layers as we also provide a wide variety of different shapes that you can layer on top of your visualizations.

Simply put, shapes and layers are essential aspects of any good data visualization. When used correctly, these visual elements add value to your designs and can even increase the readability and understanding of your data visualization. Interested in learning more about layers?

With Astrato there are three types of variables that you can use within your workbook designs to further enrich your insights and add value to your data.

  • Boolean variables – These variables only have two possible values (true or false) and are most commonly used with control statements.
  • Number variables – These variables are used to store numeric information. Number variables are used to perform equations or comparisons within your data.
  • String variables – String variables hold a sequence of characters, (such as letters or symbols) and are used to store text, a sentence or even an entire paragraph.
